The Sierra Vista City Council will be deciding whether to apply for CDBG grants now that Sierra Vista is a new "entitlement" city, at a special meeting Tuesday, August 12th at 3pm. HUD's new rules intend to erase all zoning codes in every community that takes CDBG funds. Cities that do not comply will jeopardize their funding but not right now.  HUD will wait until there are years worth of projects in various stages of completion and then will pull the…

Congressional Hearing on EPA, IRS in Mesa

Posted on August 30, 2013 at 12:50pm 0 Comments

More than 550 people showed up in Mesa on Thursday to attend the Congressional Field Hearing I held with fellow Arizona Congressmen Franks, Salmon and Schweikert concerning IRS abuse and EPA overreach. It is important, now more than ever, that we hold the federal government responsible for its invasive actions against its citizens, our state and our local governments.

Actions taken by activist bureaucrats are increasingly egregious. Arizonans across the state are…

Jere was NOT at Cochise County Complex at 6PM as I stated in my email that I was there at 6PM, and was the only one there.  If there is going to be a movie or meeting, at a designated time, one expects it to be fulfilled at that time.  In our family, we do not take any membership in any social network, such as You Tube, Facebook, Tweeter, & My Space.  We have learned how identity theft can be easily accomplished, plus assult, and deadly acts of violence, so we just won't see those two movies, which we wanted too.

Joanne, I drove to Cochise County Complex this evening, and was there at 6PM when you stated you'd be showing the two movies, but everything was dark, and locked, with no cars around!!!  You did specifically say in an email today that you were showing the movies at the Cochise County Complex from 6 - 8PM, and no one around!

Thank you, I am looking forward to become more involved and knowledgeable on our local issues.

I would like to add a comment in regards to the Superior Court Judges. I worked for the Superior Court for 7 yrs. During my time their I worked very closely to the Judges as I was Asst. Jury Commissioner for 5 1/2 yrs and 1 1/2 as Appeals Clerk. Karl Elledge has 33 yrs of experience in Criminal, Juvenile, Family, & Civil Cases. Both are running for Division 4 which has very busy case load and I personally know that Judge Litrell case load entailed Civil, Domestic and Criminal very busy office/court. Karl is a family man who has been married to same women, faithful and devote, a true conservative.

Hello Joanne.  I want to tell you how much Dave and I appreciate the fine work you and the other members of your group are doing to preserve what is left of our country.  We will be happy to attend future meetings.  We do have one critical concern though and that is with respect to the issue of Social Security.  We strongly believe that SSA should not be classified as an "entitlement program" or welfare as we so often hear from the Conservative Right.  SSA is clearly an "insurance program" for which we paid with our tax dollars over many years.  It works like any other insurance program in that actuaries try to determine life expectancy of the prospective recipients and adjust premiums and benefits accordingly.  They invest the premiums, so as to have income to pay the benefits.  Somehow this has worked for 70+ years or so; it has provided a retirement supplement and safety net for generations of workers.  Unfortunately, no one could have predicted that there would be fewer workers (because of out-sourcing of jobs and a reduced birth rate) to support us beneficiaries in our retirement years.  Also, the actuaries could not have imagined that progress in medical care would make it so we are living longer and receiving more benefits.  We just are not dying fast enough!  The problem for Conservatives is that by referring to SSA as an entitlement it serves to alienate and even infuriate the very voters whose support they want. Revising SSA for future beneficiaries is   necessary, but let us not malign the program which has done so much for so many.  With all due respect, Dave and Connie Santeford

Joanne, I am having trouble deciding which Judge of Superior Court Div. 4 I should vote for.

Would you please write me at:  and give me your pros and cons for Roger H. Contreras & Karl D. Elledge.   I will just leave both blank if I don't hear from you in a couple of days. - Lee R. Chadbourn

Love to come up to another one of your meetings I know at the moment you are busy with canidates.  I will continue to stay in contact with you and your team.  I do have a slde presentation that is a little beyond that standard that many of your members may be interested in.  To bad your CAT team had worked very hard on the roads, I'm sure at the end it won't be a waste of time much had to be learned by the team and suscess is just around the corner.  In Liberty Bill

I've been to one of the meetings, so far, in April. I was unable to make the May meetings due to travel. I am an independent journalist/blogger, currently, by trade. I scrape out pennies (some days, literally) to augment my military pension.

I do offer an ability to reach an audience outside of Cochise County for any issues that deemed necessary for regional or national awareness. I have contacts with several "new media" outlets. So, I'm always looking for a story. I'm a capitalist by nature. So, anything you can toss me to write about works for all our advantage.

I do stick to a more conservative/TEA Party view, but I am all about facts, not rhetoric.

Recently, I wrote articles supporting Jesse Kelly, Ted Cruz, and others.

I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting on the 9th.

Thank you for the followup message.   While I am not physically in Cochise county as yet,  plans are in motion to move there before next summer.   When I get situated, I plan to participate as much as possible in those processes for keeping our elected officials as honest as possible.  Are there any other Citizen oversite groups you're aware of?    Eventually I hope to participate in election processes as well.  I've served as Election judge for  county and general elections here in Texas and have served on our homeowner board as President, and Secretary.  I firmly believe the only way for evil to prosper is for good people to do Nothing.  I'm a Doer and hope to help as much as possible.
