Free Markets, Fiscal Responsibility, Smaller Government, Secure Borders

THE TWO ISSUES DIVIDING AMERICA What is America really arguing about?  What is the battle going on between Liberals and Conservatives, between Democrats and Republicans, between President Obama and Republicans like Senator Rand Paul?  Is it a "war on women"?  NO!  Is it "gay rights"?  NO!  Is it voter ID. NO! Is it racism? NO!

All these types of things are side shows that have been created because they don’t want the American people to understand the “REAL ISSUES”.

WE ARE FIGHTING OVER TWO BASIC ISSUES: 1. The 10th Amendment to our Constitution.  This is the basic issue of “HOW BIG” should our Federal Government be? It’s 28 words that are the key to this whole issue. "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."

Understanding the issue…  Please focus on the first 4 words.  "THE POWERS NOT DELEGATED".  To most people reading this it should mean that if the Constitution doesn't specifically delegate a power to the Federal Government of the United States, than that power is reserved for the States or the People.  Pretty simple I'd say.  Unless you are a federal politician or a federal judge and you want more and more power to shape the country as "you see fit".

Did the Constitution "DELEGATE" the power over "EDUCATION"?  NOPE.  The word Education isn't mentioned in the Constitution.

Did the Constitution "DELEGATE" the power over "HEALTH CARE"?  NOPE.  The words "health care" are not mentioned in the Constitution.

Did the Constitution "DELEGATE" the power over "HOUSING"?  NOPE.  The word "housing" is not mentioned in the Constitution.

The list goes on, but the basic issue is hopefully clear.  Conservatives believe that our Federal Government, Politicians, and Judges have corrupted the meaning of the Constitution.  While each one of them swears a oath to follow the Constitution, most of them haven't even read it and could care less what it says.

On the other hand, Liberals believe that the only true answer to almost any problem must come from a "all powerful" Federal Government.  Liberals want enormous power and size for the Federal Government, while Conservatives want to follow the Constitution and have the limited power as stated in the "10TH AMENDMENT.

2. THE 2ND BILL OF RIGHTS THAT WAS INTRODUCED BY PRESIDENT FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT.  What's the 2nd Bill Of Rights.  Here are the rights as taken from the speech where President Roosevelt introduced them.

• The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the Nation;

• The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

• The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

• The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

• The right of every family to a decent home;

• The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

• The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

• The right to a good education.

This proposal from President Roosevelt was defeated and these rights were never put in our Constitution.  But, make no mistake that the battle over the "2nd Bill of Rights" has been going on for years with Presidents like Carter and Johnson and has now been escalated with President Obama's administration.

Liberals have fought a tenacious battle to implement these rights into our way of living and thinking. “THEY ARE WINNING THE FIGHT”... The whole concept of these right outlined by President Roosevelt is basic "Socialism".

What is Socialism? so·cial·ism  (ssh-lzm) n. 1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy. 2. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.

Focus on the last 10 words and of number "1" and see if it doesn't sound familiar to what we have in America today.  "A CENTRALIZED GOVERNMENT THAT OFTEN PLANS AND CONTROLS THE ECONOMY". Didn't our Central Federal Government take over General Motors and decide that the assets would be turned over to it's unions supporters instead of the it's investors (investors always had priority until now)?

Didn't our Central Federal Government take over control of our health care system? Didn't our Central Federal Government take over control of our education system? While you might read the 2nd Bill of Rights proposal and say to yourself wouldn't it be great if the government could do that?  The answer is that over thousands of years of human history no government has ever been able to do it and those that have tried it have ended in financial  collapse.

There is no way for any country to afford to do these things.  The more that liberal politicians in America have tried, the higher our debt and deficit have climbed.  We are close to the end of this experiment and it will end as badly as it has for every other country that tried it.

America is $17 Trillion in debt and hundreds of trillion more in debt for the unfunded mandates of the very social programs outlined in the 2nd Bill of Rights. Let’s look for a minute what happens when the Federal Government tries to implement and  pay for these “RIGHTS”.

SOCIAL SECURITY -- The government created a forced retirement plan so people would have some “security” in their old age. What has happened? --- The same government took the money that was being set aside for people’s old age and put it in their “General Fund” so they could spend it on other things. In other words they turned it into the largest “PONZI SCHEME” in the history of the world. Today the Social Security Program is effectively bankrupt and the independent actuaries that run the fund tell us over and over again that the program is simply unsustainable.

EDUCATION -- The government has taken over control of education and taken over control of the student loan program. What has happened? --- Since the Government really ramped up the Department of Education in the 1950’s and 1960’s, our student ranking has gone down. The Department of Education has been taken over by the Teacher’s Union and is nothing more today than a union partner to send more and more tax money to it’s members. Today we are ranked around 13th in the world despite the billions of dollars being spent.

HOMES FOR EVERYONE -- The government decided during the Carter administration that everyone deserved to have a home regardless of their ability to pay for it. What has happened? --- During the Carter administration the Federal Government passed “The Community Reinvestment Act” to make housing available to more people. The Clinton administration strengthened the act. The government effectively started threatening banks and other financial institutions if they didn’t make “high risk” home loans to people that normally couldn’t qualify. Than the government took the bold step of backing up these high risk home loans through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with taxpayer dollars. This created a tidal wave of insane home loans since our government was taking all the risk. The end result was a “Housing Bubble” that effectively threatened to collapse our entire economy in 2008.Our government ended up spending almost $1 Trillion in “bail out money” to avoid this collapse.

MEDICARE/MEDICAID -- The government created “socialized medicine” with the Medicare/Medicaid Plans. What has happened? --- Today these plans (like Social Security) are effectively bankrupt. The independent actuaries for these plans continue to tell us these programs are simply unsustainable. In addition, since the patients have little if any interest in how the money is spent, they abuse the system. Plus since the Federal Government is historically terrible at oversight of the systems they create, these systems (like most government systems) have rampant fraud and waste.

Today the Federal Government has a debt of $17 Trillion and borrows almost 50 cents of every dollar it spends which is completely unsustainable. In order to survive the government has skyrocketed (see attached chart) and today the Fed is creating over $80 billion a month out of thin air in order to keep us afloat.

If that isn’t bad enough, America has over $124 Trillion in unfunded mandates for these programs that are a result of the 2nd Bill of Rights philosophy.

3. WHAT CAN WE DO? The reality is that world history and America’s own history has shown that there is simply no government can afford to protect people from cradle to grave. We are pretty much out of time and the American people continue to be painfully unaware that THEIR COUNTRY IS BURNING DOWN AROUND THEM. CHOOSE A SIDE! American’s need to first recognize the danger to their country and as President Kennedy said “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”.

American’s need to put aside the self interest or “what’s in it for me” philosophy and choose a side. It’s a simple choice.

     --- You can choose a much much smaller more Constitutional and affordable government.

     --- You can choose to continue to support the ongoing massive governmental government growth, debt, waste, and corruption.

The question for America is not “What do we feel good about doing”, but rather “what can we afford to do”? YOUR CHOICE AMERICA!!!

Well stated. Check out todays commentary by the Goldcamps, starting on page A6. I think we can't think in terms of Republics and Democrats anymore. There are Constitutionalists and Socialists. Hopefully, the Republic Conservative wing has more of the former than the latter. The Dems, I doubt have any of the former, plenty of the latter, though.

Take the AZ Center for Self Governance  Level 1 class on October 27th and learn how to effectively influence your elected officials.  Start implementing this new/old process immediately. It is the next step in the Tea Party evolution.  Sigh up today.

We need to leverage the 10th Amendment in two ways.  First, any new legislation needs to be reviewed for sustaining the States or individuals constitutional rights.  If that legislation does not support but takes away from these rights, then is should not passed and we need to lobby against it.  Second, we need to review existing laws with the same criteria and work to repeal those laws that violate the States and individuals rights.
